Why use templates?

Creating a page from a template is like copying the layout from a page and pasting it into a new one. Unlike cutting and pasting, templates can be set so that some features can't be changed.

This helps keep things consistent when different people are working on the same site. Also, after a site is finished, pages created from a template can be changed just by changing the template itself.
